A thoughtfully rebuilt back porch preserves the home’s original character while creating a welcoming place to relax and enjoy the outdoors.
After repairing the foundation and floor system beneath it, we gave this porch a major facelift, preserving its original character while preparing it for years of enjoyment.
We began by planing all the joists to give the finished floor the proper pitch to shed water. Next, we installed new 3¼-inch floorboards, each primed on the underside and along its sides before installation to help protect against moisture.
New support columns were installed to carry the porch roof, followed by beadboard ceiling panels that brought a classic, finished look to the space. Decorative molding added the detail that tied everything together, matching the porch’s original style.
The finishing touches, a new light and ceiling fan, made the porch more welcoming and comfortable. From the repaired foundation to the refreshed ceiling, every step helped bring new life to a familiar gathering place.
